This is the first time I'm going to cinema all alone. The first time seeing it in 3D as well! ( tak best apa pun 3D ni?) The original Fright Night is a product of its time. Not to say that this 2011 version is lame, but I’m sure as hell it was scary movie to watch 26 years ago.
I’m glad Marti Noxon twists the story pretty good based from the original Tom Holland’s idea with a few tweaks here and there. Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) is a Las Vegas high school student started dating the lovely Amy (Imogen Poots), as a result he's turned his back on his nerd friend Evil Ed (Christopher Mintz-Plasse). This time Evil is too nerdy! However, the problems finally hit when Charlie's new neighbor, Jerry (Colin Farrell), moves in next door and flirting with his mom. (she’s milf! Hehe! Not me, but Jerry said your mom and girlfriend need to be plugged!). He's great as the often laid-back antagonist, just waiting for you to invite him in.
Jerry is a vampire and his identity as one isn't hidden for long as Evil and a friend (Adam, I think) have followed news reports regarding missing persons back to Jerry. This time only when Evil is missing, Charlie knew it was real deal when he found collections of mp4 in Evil computer. The charming Jerry finally revealed his true nature while Charlie has no choice but to seek help from Peter Vincent (Tennant), a Las Vegas illusionist in vein of Criss Angel. Peter has a massive interest in all things mythological, soon it is learned that his parents was killed by a vampire.
This is the darker version of Fright Night with a little laughs especially from Peter Vincent. And I like when Charlie pissed on Evil for reading too much vampire crap like Twilight. Anyway, just see in 2D.
